Fire station relocates to Millcreek neighborhood

(Millcreek Journal) A new fire station being built in a west Millcreek neighborhood could bring better response times for residents.

The groundbreaking for construction on the new station, to be located at 3900 South 790 East, was held Sept. 15. The station should be completed next spring.

“The great thing about the new fire station is that it will provide better coverage for the entire township area. The Millcreek Community Council area has been serviced for a long time by a fire station in South Salt Lake,” said Salt Lake County Millcreek Township Representative Rita Lund.

Currently, United Fire Authority serves the area from a station located at 3620 South West Temple. The station is in a neighborhood that was part of the Millcreek Township before it was annexed by South Salt Lake City in 1999, which then purchased the building in 2000.
